Re: Anyone wanna help build a computer?
That PSU is 100W stronger than it needs to be, and that Mobo is 100 dollars more expensive than a motherboard should be.
And I would recommend getting an i5 instead, cheaper and almost/exactly the same gaming performance.

The LGA2011 is recommended only if you do mostly (professional) rendering and can't wait. I would pick http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116504 any day. If you look in http://www.techspot.com/review/492-intel-core-i7-3820/page7.html you see that the i7-3820 slower in gaming than the "old" i5 2500k which is a Sandy Bridge, even if it is fast when it comes to rendering and similar.

Pick any motherboard that feels fine. Click on details and look at what you need. Do you plan on getting SLI in the future? Get one with 2 16x pci-e ports, otherwise don't. This one seems fine: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131826 , but as I said, any mobo is fine. Just make sure it's socket 1155 and has what you need. If it costs more than 150 dollars, it's way too expensive.

Like i said, ur welcome m8 :)
It's better to ask for help anyways instead of risking buying components that
won't even work with eachother in the end rite?

This has definitely been quite the experience. But now I know far more than before. Has been a really fun journey. I really appreciate everyone's help: Xenomorph, Inso and Buzz to name a few. So thanks to all you guys for listening and helping with my stupid NOOB questions and helping me prepare to buy a sports car of a computer. In-fact this computer may even allow me to fly, not sure, have to get back to you all on that. TY again, and I will update as I procure and build the beast that is mine.

Re: Anyone wanna help build a computer?
I think we cleared most of this up in last nights chat now :)
Still, you wanna figure all this out BEFORE you buy everything and put the whole pc together ;)

Re: Anyone wanna help build a computer?
Every time I think I have what I want down something comes in a messes it all up. I was reading lots of reviews and now I am kind of interested in Intel mobo and processors. If I did go that route from what I read the i7 would be the best as it allows multiple threading, which basically makes my quad core and eight core. So in terms of performance to cost, which route would be better the AMD 8 core or the Intel i7 quad? Also after reading a good amount of reviews it seemed that the AMD processors are quite behind Intel in may areas, how true is this? Sorry to relight the fire, but I'm in it to win it.

Re: Anyone wanna help build a computer?
While you did actually link to a better HDD, the difference is almost insignificant. HDD's are not fast enough for 6gb to make a practical difference, so when picking HDD 3gb/6gb is nothing you should be concerned with.

64mb cache is slightly better than 32mb though, so go with the one Xeno linked.

Re: Anyone wanna help build a computer?
actually you can get faster for the same money:

its a 3 Gb/s sata 2 HDD see, you would be wanting a
6 Gb/s sata 3 HDD instead since that will be ur motherboard max speed for data transfer.

So the key features are:

- 6 Gb/s SATA 3
- 64 Mb cache
- 7200 Rpm minimum
- storage size is up to you

So this is what you want pretty much:

HDD

Re: Anyone wanna help build a computer?
If you've decided on 7200rpm, that HDD is fine.

Re: Anyone wanna help build a computer?
What do you guys think about this HDD?

HDD:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152185

And if not good, what is a good brand to look at. After reading lots of reviews I do want to stay away from Western Digital because it seems their drives suck.

BTW: Buzz, what HDDs do you use?
