Given they constantly see everything in crazy colors, think theyre invisible, and generally do crazy stuff because it seems legit, I think that alludes to the wrong end of the drug spectrum.

Stan Winston called it a rastafarian warrior from outer space. Also James Cameron is slightly responsible for the mandibles. While hitching the same plane-ride Winston was sketching the first designs for the predator and he asked James what his views were on the beast. James replied with "I always wanted to see something with mandibles".
