Well...this HAS to be the greatest game ever made. It was back then...so if it rocks(which it does cous kotaku cant stop talking about it...and they played it)...lets add it to the list! Its gonna have allot of fans...cous everybody love a good duke nukem game right?

I would love to believe this , but um.... so how I feel trolled reading that and seeing the pics. No offense but I still feel DFN was a shallowed promise to is fans, if this is true I would love to see George Broussard to get executed ingame for his lack of competence during the development of DFN.

but after how many yrs for this game to be released . lol slipages , and cancels

But for real, Gearbox Software, just ahead of the opening of PAX 2010, announced to the world that the game-that-will-not-die is finally on the home stretch after more than a decade in development. Duke Nukem Forever, the sequel to 1996’s Duke Nukem 3D has been “close to release” countless times since it was originally announced in 1997. Since then, DNF has spawned a string of release dates that never panned out, some of the most effortless humor that’s ever existed, and a fierce legal battle between publisher Take-Two and original-developer 3D Realms.

After hitting financial trouble in 2009, 3D Realms closed its doors and entered legal proceedings with Take-Two over the game they should have delivered more than ten years earlier. Though we still don’t know the exact details, we know now that Gearbox got involved shortly thereafter, taking over development of Duke Nukem Forever in late ‘09; presumably after a settlement was reached between 3D Realms and Take-Two.

With over a decade worth of assets to work from, Gearbox was able to make short work of things; showing off a playable demo today at PAX. Described as being in the ‘polishing’ phase, Duke Nukem Forever, featuring both single and multiplayer modes, is slated for release sometime in the next year on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. CEO Randy ‘The Man’ Pitchford said that Gearbox will announce more details concerning ‘the future of the IP’ during their panel at PAX 2010.

Is this just the beginning of a new Duke franchise? Will Gearbox announce a release date, only to delay it by one day; just for old time’s sake? Are you freaking out that Duke Nukem Forever is finally coming out? Or is it

Considering almost 15 years of being a curse that has "almost" been released repeatedly, wouldn't you say this is more a sign that another company has signed its own death warrant?

Not only was Duke Nukem Forever unveiled at PAX, but it was also playable in demo form on the show floor. And although the game won't be released until 2011 on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC, Pitchford told UK gaming site VG247 that he is already looking at ways to release a demo to the millions of gamers who weren't at the event.

"I think that is an important thing to do," he told the site. "Now that the cat's out of the bag we can actually make those plans. Now we can get with retailers and figure out the launch window, and figure out demo timing, and work with the first-parties on that. We weren't able to do that until this point."
