Heli crash sites
Is the WPC DayZ server using default spawn locations for these sites or are you guys using custom spawn locations? ie. for role-playing purposes etc.

I saw someone (probably dean) flying around in a Heli near Stary last night and there were two crashed Heli's just east of that town that were very close to each other (probably less than 500m). This was right before the server needed to be restarted. After the restart, they were gone and I was wondering how these spawns work Vs. the public servers.

Obviously some of the best weapons are found at these locations and as I've done most everything else possible in the game I've been trying to find some of these and test them out. Looking for them on the public servers 9 times out of 10 just get's you killed by a sniper. As Snipers will commonly search for these locations and then setup shop and just kill people for fun.

I even remember finding one and before approaching it in the field I took a 360 degree trip around the perimeter and searched the tree-line prior to going in to check for loot. You guessed it, just as I got to the Heli *CRACK* Dead.. So either I missed that person somehow (possibly in a ghillie suit) or they got to the site just as I finished searching the area (or they just logged in).

hey, Heli crash sites have no "set" spawn locations, they have a few conditions,

1. no trees/forests
2. no towns/city/houses nearby (within about 200m)
3. has Open space with no cover.
4. has to be within the north 3/4 of the map.

so as you see, most of the north is open field, most of the south is forested

guess you can see the patter from the conditions.

Yeah I'm familiar with all of the above conditions. What I don't know about private servers is if you have the default locations substituted for predetermined locations. As private servers are able to use much more customizations I was wondering of you guys are spawning them etc.. instead of allowing them to randomly spawn. As I said the two that were east of Stary that were right next to each other. I'm assuming those were manually spawned since most online maps only show one heli location there.

It's RANDOM. There are no fixed locations for heli spawns. Heli's can spawn ANYWHERE that meet that those conditions. There are no defaults, just highly likely locations, I've never seen a heli in the same spot twice. The mod is completely unedited. It is only the data base we've edited and that only handles player/vehicle/object saving.

Don't believe everything you read on the internet.

I guess you can understand why I was asking then if you read above about how I was saying there were two right next to each other. And that was minutes before the server was restarted too. Coincidence?
