Why do you let foreign players on your AvP servers?
This question isn't about bigotry or prejudice. It's about 200+ ms players from other countries and sometimes higher pings. All foreign players do is contribute to the lag factor that makes it hard to kill them, hard to block them, and hard to melee with them. There's something like 48+ Steam registered AvP servers and I find hard to believe that there aren't any servers closer than these 5 WPC servers in NY that players from other countries can find to play a game.
I pretty much know the answer I'll receive, but I'm going to ask the question anyway. Most of the time the answer is that if you didn't allow everyone in the world on your servers, they'd be dead. Well, of the 53 AvP servers that are showing up via Steam currently, only 11 have players on them, albeit, at 9:00 AM Friday (1/14/11). The other 42 are dead. The servers with no one on them currently are in Japan, UK, and the EU to name the few with listed locations.
The servers with players on them currently are in Australia, Korea, Germany (4 European), and Russia to name the few with listed locations. Of those 11 servers, the ping range is from 130 ms to 370 ms, with WPC1 having 130 ms and a European server having the 370 ms ping. The second lowest ping server is at 167 ms and it's in Germany. So, based on the filled and empty servers, it's not like there aren't servers a lot closer than NY for all of these non-North American players.
I realize this is a moot post, but I just wanted to know the "why" even though I believe I know the answer already.
Thanks.

Maybe because a huge majority of thic clan membership is based in Europe..? Funnily, I don't see myself as a "foreign" player on the WPC servers. ---------------- My Evil Plan: Do not click! Radio is on top of my priorities list (n°71 actually).

Maybe the Americans are the foreigners.

indeed, we have killing floor servers in the uk and us, but only avp in the us. one person hosts for the uk, so you'll have to find this person and see if they'll host an AVP for the UK. LD ---------------- WPC JEEJ

Hello First thing first Its up to the player to choose a ping that is sutable for there connection its not up to the host . Second theres no PING limit that would auto kick a high ping player. sorry Third there are no such thing as foreigners in a gamers world just Friends. :) far and near :) Thank you for your concern [WPC] Buzz server admin ----------------

Thanks for the offer, but ...
If I were to do this right, I'd get some game hosting company like Hypernia.com to host AvP. I wouldn't have it hosted off of someone's personal or spare computer that's on 24/7 and hooked to a switch that's hooked to their home cable modem. I understand everyone's altruistic love fest of idealism and all inclusion, but in real technical terms, it just unevens the online gaming playing field.
The WPC servers 1-5 range from 100 to 130 ms for me from Phoenix, AZ. There are six servers above the WPC1 server with lower latencies, but no one is on them in the wee hours of the morning. So, I just have to deal with what I can get.

Listen I dont see your point of complaining, the servers are there for all to use and they are FREE , instead of complaining about them just enjoy them, and if you dont like the ping to them then join another . It wouldnt matter where the servers were located or what company hosted them, and if they were full you would still have the high pingers as the community is so small they would all cram only a few servers as they do now. BTW the latency might be lower for you but it may be just right for the next guy.And our servers are not just some spare computers they are Brand new very well built machines connected to suitable connections. So if you think you can do it right by all means do so . [WPC] Buzz server admin ----------------
