Re: Ready for a Upgrade
Those new dominator's are so damn pretty would love to grab some of them, the white leds would go so well with my setup.
I was also gona go with 2 7950s after i couldn't get hold of any 680s, but i ended up going with a asus 7970 DC 2.
I personally dont like the Thermaltake Level 10 or big air coolers like the D14, but like I said its a personal thing and ive heard the D14 is meant to be awesome.

All in all im jelly wish i had that amount of money. I also wanted a Rampage but couldn't afford

Re: Ready for a Upgrade
Okay so I'll give my thoughts on ur choice of components below.

CPU : Intel Core i7-3930K
Are you sure you want to spend a extra 200 for a 10% speed increase over a e.g. i7-3820 CPU?

Motherboard : ASUS Rampage IV Extreme X79
Again this is the most expensive mobo asus has atm lol, be carefull you don't pay
to much for fancy extra options you will never use ;)

Graphic Card : Gigabyte 3GD Radeon HD 7950 (x2)
Personally i think you will do fine with just one of these tbh.

Memory : CORSAIR Dominator Platinum 8G (x8)
Sooooo 64 Gb of memory is what you want then? again WAY to much for
what ur actually going to use lol
32Gb is more than enough really, unless ur going to render finding nemo all day as a hobby.

Hard Drive : Seagate Barracuda 7200 3TB (x2)
Question, how much HDD space do you use atm? since i get the feeling you want
to download the whole internet lol

SSD : Mushkin Callisto deluxe 120GB
I would recommend a Corsair Force GT 120Gb instead since it has
double the read / write speeds than the mushkin.

Power Supply : Corsair 1200-Watt
Just make sure it's modular! :D

HeatSink : Noctua NH-D14
For a setup you have in mind aircoolers are not going to cut it.
Also, this noctua cooler will not allow you to use all the memory slots
because of its size probably.
On top of that, ur ram sticks are going to be to high and will touch most of the noctua fans.
So recommended is watercooling like a Corsair H80 or H100.
That way you get alot more room to work around the CPU to install all
the fan wires and RAM sticks.
Plus, watercooling is more silent and ALOT cooler than airflow.

Case : Thermaltake Level 10
Personal taste in looks i think, it will allow a Corsar H100 in the top but you need to remove the 200mm top fan to do so.

Mouse : R.A.T 9 Gaming Mouse
Again, way to expensive product for what you would actually need, want or like imo.
Have you looked into a CM Spawn mouse as well btw?

Keyboard : Logitech G510
See: "mouse" comment

Ok so bottom line, just out of interest, how did you pick these components?
I dont believe you just picked the most expensive version of everything,
since i can tell you looked into the components being compattible.
Just curious ;)
Also, what are the future plans of this pc? just to play games or?
Did you check the prices of all the products as well to see if it would stay under 5000, i didnt yet see lol.
Just to give you an idea, with the amount of money you would spent on this current choice of products, i can make 2 brand new computers who can do the same thing you will be using it for in the end.

Hope this helps.

CPU : Intel Core i7-3930K
Unless you're doing some heavy rendering, six cores and hyperthreading won't help you. Get one with 4 cores. Huge difference in price, minimal difference in performance, unless, as I said, you're doing some real heavy rendering.

Motherboard : ASUS Rampage IV Extreme X79
Take something cheaper. If you're paying more than 200, you're paying too much.

Graphic Card : Gigabyte 3GD Radeon HD 7950 (x2)
Take one. If you want more performance, take a more expensive models instead of using crossfire. Using 2GPUs just brings problem.

Memory : CORSAIR Dominator Platinum 8G (x8)
Way too much. If you're gaming on it, 8gb is enough. If you render movies/3d a lot, take 16gb.

Hard Drive : Seagate Barracuda 7200 3TB (x2)
If you need the space.

Power Supply : Corsair 1200-Watt
1200W is enough to power 2 computers and then some. To power a 7950 or even a 7970 600W is plenty.

HeatSink : Noctua NH-D14
Good choice! Aircooling and watercooling don't differ much in price/performance nowadays.

Case : Thermaltake Level 10
It's up to you. It looks expensive. Fractal Design has good price/"performance" cases, I would buy one of them. But of course, up to you.

Keyboard : Logitech G510
In my opinion, if you're going to pay that much for a keyboard, mechanical switches are a must.

I present THE MONOLITH. ^^

No windows and lights for me. No huge wirring fans and watercooling. This system is built to be cool and quiet.

Even my GPU has no fan.

Re: lets see your...
Ok im curious now whisky
No backup device for all that stuff?
What kinda SSD did you get and why only 60 GIGs like i did.
Have you ever looked into the temps of ur videocard when gaming?
No airflow option into the case? (combined with the previous quistion = high temps?)

If you would be so kind, download this tiny program and make a screeny of the results please:
SPEEDFAN

Thanx! :D

Re: lets see your...
I use a NAT with hotswapping.

60GB SSD is for system only and I was on a budget.

Case has venting and filters on the front. Airflow is perfect through the case.

Temp is a none issue. I've regularly ran the system full tilt for over 6hrs without a hiccup. Components were picked for their ability to run cool and quiet, not fast and loud. Inherently more expensive but worth it.

This is a machine designed to work on media, gaming is simply a by-product of having a good PC.
